Overview
An iSCSI snapshot captures the contents of an iSCSI LUN from the time the snapshot was taken. Within the Customer Portal, snapshots may be taken on an individual basis or may be scheduled to be taken in intervals of the time specified, for example, every 12 hours. When creating a schedule, users also have the option to retain the snapshots associated with the LUN. Snapshot retention is set by telling the system the amount of snapshots that should be retained. When the maximum number is hit, the system begins deleting snapshots with the oldest first to keep the desired amount of snapshots without going over that number. For example, if snapshot retention is set to 20, there may be less than 20 snapshots associated with the iSCSI LUN, however, when the 21st snapshot is taken, the oldest snapshot will automatically be deleted. Follow the steps below to create a Snapshot Schedule for an iSCSI LUN.
